Pilot operated solenoid valve is a 2-way solenoid valves used in releasing water or air pressure from the control trim of system deluge control valve automatically. When the coil is energized (on a Normally Open position), the pilot orifice is opened, causing the pressure in the upper chamber to rapidly decrease, creating a high-pressure difference around the closing part of the solenoid valve, and the solenoid valve will open by force of fluid pressure. When the coil is de-energized (on a Normally Closed position), the pilot orifice is closed and line pressure is applied to the top of the diaphragm through the bleed orifice, closing the valve.
